Changes to increase in superannuation guarantee rate

The Government will continue with the increase of superannuation guarantee (SG) rate to 12 per cent from the current 9.25 per cent, but the timing of the increase will change.

The SG rate will increase to 9.5 per cent on 1 July 2014 and remain at this level until 30 June 2018.

It will then increase by 0.5 per cent each year until it reaches 12 per cent in 2022-23.
